Calvin Mills Jr.

Calvin Mills is the founder, president, and CEO of CMC Technology Solutions, SLT Technology, Inc., and his most recent venture, HelpIT, Inc.—a pioneering software and application development company that has introduced a public offering strategy for the NASDAQ stock exchange. With over 20 years of experience in the tech industry, Calvin has established himself as an award winning serial entrepreneur, embodying the values of faith, hard work, dedication, and perseverance. Throughout his career, Calvin has devoted countless hours to various organizations, most notably serving on the Nexus Louisiana Board of Directors for eight years as the mayor's designee for the City of Baton Rouge. He held the position of board chairman for three years before stepping in as the interim president and CEO when the organization needed him most, showcasing his commitment to service and leadership.

A philanthropist, author, dynamic speaker, mentor, and advocate for small businesses, Calvin is passionate about advancing the tech sector and nurturing the next generation of entrepreneurs. In 2018, he founded the nonprofit organization Changing Lives Is My Business (CLIMB), aimed at providing access to technology and resources for underserved youth. Growing up in a low income, single-parent household fueled his ambition and instilled in him the importance of giving back, a lesson he has embraced throughout his career. Calvin's dedication to service began with his first company, which focused on building affordable desktop computers for low-income and marginalized families. As a graduate of a Historically Black College & University, he recognized the significance of cultural exposure and opportunities, leading to the creation of "Calvin Cares Weekend." This initiative has allowed over 2000 underprivileged youth to attend the Bayou Classic, an annual college football rivalry game between Grambling State University and Southern University.

In his book, "No Secrets to Elevation: An Entrepreneur's Story of Persistence," Calvin shares his personal journey of struggle and resilience. His achievements have been recognized nationally; he has received accolades from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Small Business Administration, including the prestigious Small Business and Minority Small Business achievement awards. As a steadfast advocate for the tech sector, Calvin has served on the National Small Business Association Board of Directors for eight years, where his influential voice earned him the title of 2019 Lew Shattuck Small Business Advocate of the Year. Calvin's impressive list of honors includes being named one of the "100 Most Influential Black Men" by the Black Chamber of Commerce Capital Region and a "BE 100 Modern Man" by Black Enterprise Magazine. His commitment to positive societal impact is evident through his philanthropic efforts and dedication to empowering underserved youth. In recognition of his work ethic, integrity, and contributions, he was awarded the 2023 U.S. Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award by President Joseph R. Biden, making him the youngest recipient in Louisiana to receive this honor.

In 2024, Calvin's reputation expanded globally when he was appointed as a Special Advisor to HRH Sylvia Luswanta, Queen of Bugunda, focusing on Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Technology. This appointment underscores his exceptional contributions to the tech industry and his unwavering commitment to empowering future entrepreneurs. A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Calvin holds a B.S. degree in Computer Science and Business from Southern University A&M College. He also enjoyed a stellar football career as the starting fullback, where he became a five-time champion, winning two National Black College Football Championships and three Southwest Athletic Conference titles with an impressive record of 25-0.
